We mentioned the hot weather in last week’s newsletter and again it is relevant this week. The DEECD keep all schools informed of current situations during the bushfire season. “Schools, school bus routes … identified as being at high risk of fire are included on the Departments At- Risk Register will be closed on days when the Fire Danger Rating is declared by fire authorities as being Code Red.” We are not listed on the At-Risk Register and will be open on days declared as Code Red. Families will have their own Emergency Management Plans organised for their particular circumstances, depending on where they live, that mean their children may not come to school on Code Red days. If this is the case please let us know of your arrangements.
We have made some internal arrangements in response to days of extreme weather. When there is an outside temperature above 35 degrees Celsius the children will remain inside during recesses and lunchtimes and be supervised as we do during a wet day situation. We do have sunscreen available in our classrooms and we encourage students to apply it before they go out into the yard. If you have any concerns about the possibility of an allergic reaction to the sunscreen we have at school please let us know so that the appropriate actions can be taken.
Our school choir has been very busy of late with performances at the Tyers Art Festival and Traralgon RSL
in past couple of weeks. Their performances have been very well received by all who have seen them. The Choir will again be representing our school in the Stockland Street Parade this weekend. Thank you to Ms Melhuish, the Choir members and their families for your wonderful commitment to this extracurricula activity.
Over the past couple of days we have had Reg Pearse working in the school as our new gardener / handyman. We are extremely pleased to have arranged for Reg to be here regularly to maintain the fantastic appearance of our school. It does make a difference to the way we feel about our school when we see it looking its best. We are very lucky to have such a good Buildings & Grounds group who put in their time to cut the grass and do the “big” things and now have Reg to attend to everyday things that need to be done.
The Traralgon Show will be on late next week, Friday 27th and Saturday 28th of November. We remind
families that there will be school as normal on the Friday. There is no Show Day Holiday this year.

We have our Book Fair next week and we encourage families to bring their children to our Library to look
at the books on display and to participate in the activities conducted during the week.
